Webinar: Understand the Science of Plastic Melt Temperature with SimTech

In this FREE webinar, we’re tackling the topic of plastic melt temperature. It is often assumed that the melt temperature is the same as our front barrel zone and nozzle heater temperatures. Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t. The only way to know for sure is to measure it directly. Variations in the plastic melt temperature affect several components of the molding process. Higher melt temperatures require more cooling time. They also reduce plastic viscosity and slightly increase plastic volume.

Using SimTech we can change the melt temperature instantly by changing those controls that affect it. In that way, we can study which controls have the greatest impact on melt temperature (hint: it’s not always the heater bands). Every raw material has a recommended range of temperatures for processing. It is important to process within that range for consistent quality.

Topics covered include:

  • How to accurately measure the plastic melt temperature (purge method)
  • How variations in melt temperature introduce variations in the molding process
  • Which machine controls to use to change and/or fine-tune the melt temperature
  • Best practices for melt temperature control. Generally the lowest temperature that will
  • produce good parts.

Take advantage of the FREE webinar to become a better problem solver as a processor.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding how the different machine controls affect the four plastic variables
  • Where a machine control affects two or more of the four variables, which is the dominant effect and why
  • How to use plastic behavior to your advantage when optimizing the molding process
  • How to problem solve from the plastics point of view

Listen in on this FREE webinar to learn and apply molding techniques that will dramatically change the way you process.

Plus! It’s FREE.
